• Diana having to essentially say goodbye to her mother a second time due to the defeat of her Shadow self meaning that her distortion is now disappearing, along with her Cognitions.
• Jasminka's account of what happened when Holodomor possessed her; paralyzed from the neck down due to a fall in the woods, helpless and alone, with her parents completely unaware of where she was.
• Amanda's grandmother was the only member of her family that cared about her beyond being an investment in the future, and when she died Amanda was left with no one.
