• To start with, the demon’s world is utterly ravaged and many of the demons we grew attached to in the original have perished, including Gash himself.
• Zelie’s first experience with humans isn’t a nice one. Not only does nobody help her find Kiyomaru or give her anything to eat, but she is almost sold into slavery when tricked by a stranger. The poor girl can’t help but sob at how horrible her situation is, from losing her friends in the demon world to being transported to a strange land full of inhospitable and dangerous beings. It’s a good thing a stranger she asked earlier that day came back and saved her while also bringing along Kiyomaru.
• You know that orphanage that Ted and Cherish built for orphans? Well, just before Gash died passing on the last of his life to Zelie and her brother he came across its destroyed remains and the bodies of the orphans (Zelie and her brother included) as well as his friends and fellow participants in the war. Ted, Cherish, and Rein died trying to protect the orphanage and the orphans in vain. The worst part about it? They used Gash's spells to fight against them and Gash's first opponents had the gall to taunt Gash and Kiyo about it. No wonder Gash was so pissed.
• Kanchomé. He was one of the demons who had fled during the initial attacks, but he had done this at the urging of his family to protect his youngest brother Consomme, who is only a toddler. While he fled to Italy to try and find Folgore, he had to watch his home get destroyed while trying to protect his baby brother and providing for him at his own expense. And once he made it to Italy, he had to give up reuniting with his old partner to lead his pursuers away from his brother while entrusting Consomme to Folgore to look after the toddler in his place. When they drive them off and he and the rest of the group are celebrating their dinner, he has flashbacks to the happy times he spent with his family and even though he tries to put a smile on his face for everyone, especially Consomme, Kanchomé breaks down after the stress of it all with only his old partner being able to put a hand on his shoulder to try and comfort him.
