Tear Jerker / The MLP Project

• Twilight supposed death. The doctor is trying his best to revive her. Spike is in tears, Applejack and Pinkie Pie fearing the worst with tears in their eyes. They just lost their friend, now they break the news to everyone.
  • Rainbow Dash's response is to break a table in her anger and grief.
  • Rarity is sobbing over Applejack's shoulder, with her mascara running
  • Fluttershy took the news the hardest. When she opened her cottage door, Applejack is pressing her hat against her chest, Pinkie gone all Pinkamena while hugging Rarity, who looks like a wreck with mascara stripes staining her beautiful white coat, and Rainbow Dash turning away from everyone. Fluttershy is at first confused, but when she sees tears in Applejack's face, she puts two-n-two again and starts shuddering from the pure sadness rolling over her, almost suffering a mental breakdown.
• TWILIGHT’S FUNERAL. SO MUCH. The broken looks on the faces of the rest of the Mane Six plus Spike, particularly Rarity who is leaning on Applejack for support; seeing Twilight’s father and older brother as two of the pallbearers; the devastated look on the face of Twilight’s mother as she and Cadence lean on their respective husbands for support, who are clearly doing their best to stand strong for their wives. Also seeing Applebloom, Scootaloo, Cheerilee, Derpy/Ditzy, Dinky, Mayor Mare, Big Macintosh, Granny Smith, Snips, Snails, Lyra, Bon Bon, and Dr. Stable all attending the funeral as well, plus seeing Mr. Cake and what appears to be either Dr. Whooves/Time Turner or Caramel as the remaining two pallbearers makes you realize how well loved Twilight was even outside her immediate friends and family and how deeply news of her death affected Ponyville.
  • Then we have Twilight’s confession, where she admits to Fluttershy that there was nothing heroic about her faking her death and disappearing. She just flat out panicked and ran away. It’s clear Twilight feels HORRIBLE about this and desperately needs someone to forgive her.
• Starflare’s backstory is no picnic either. He lost his mother at a very early age. His father spiraled to a life of depression and alcoholism; not to mention he was extremely abusive toward his son. Eventually, his tried to kill Starflare in a drunken rage. Remember Starflare's cutie mark? He got it when was forced to kill his own father in self-defense. This comment explains the tragedy very clearly:

  Nevertheless, the EMT's face at the end says it all. Being in a kill or be killed situation as a child is terrifying enough already. Starflare discovering his PURPOSE in life after killing his father in self defense is downright heartbreaking.

  • After losing half his face saving Twilight from an explosion, he blames himself for the accident and says he deserves his disfigurement for endangering Twilight by putting her in that situation in the first place. Although he recovers from that emotionally, apparently he and his wife Locket had a stillborn child. After Starflare goes off the deep end and willingly endangers Twilight, and finally we have Celestia’s panicked reaction and a brief moment of despair when she thinks she lost little Twilight.
