WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers for the The Heartstrikers entirety.

  • Algonquin's state throughout this entire book is nothing but sad and pitiful. Being trapped by her own magic and possessed by the Leviathan, a Nameless End that eats entire realities only because she made a deal in desperation that the world she once knew no longer exists and she intended a clean slate. The only one who saw the truth and made her realize her folly was Julius, and by that point it was certainly too late.
  • Julius' final act in the end. He, in the culmination of his entire nature and being, understands and forgives Algonquin for her actions against his kind and her own world. He sacrifices himself in front of Marci by quickly consuming Algonquin's remaining puddle and trapping the Leviathan's tendrils, thus allowing the momentarily horrified Algonquin to use his own blood to escape, giving her the second chance she desired. This finally gets the Lady of the Lakes to apologize to the spirits and everyone else in the world, even the now-native dragons, for going too far and bows deeply in gratitude to the remaining ember that was once Julius..
  • Bob gets a couple:
    • Beneath his image as the eccentric kooky fortune-teller Bob makes himself out to be, he's nothing but a terrified selfish dragon scared of his own death only because he inevitably abuses a power he didn't even want to have. Bob sees the fate of nearly everyone he meets, to the point that one of the only few reasons he never truly became insane was that he invited and fell in love with the Nameless End that destroyed their previous world, the only beings whose futures he could never see even in the eyes of others.
    • In one of the few moments he shows actual remorse, he hints that he always regretted alienating everyone he loves for his own schemes, including the one he hurt the most...
    • Julius, in spite of every bad events Bob threw at him, still kept protecting his older brother even against Bob's own fated death. He falls into despair when he can't even repay Julius' kindness by selling every future where he uses his Seer abilities, which would effectively de-power him. This convinces his Nameless End to repay the gift Bob gave her, sacrificing every future where they remain together in order to force reality into saving Julius' life.
