Tear Jerker / Frida

Go To

  • The miscarriage scene, especially when Frida wants to see her dead baby and Diego sees the art piece based on her experience. The man who previously didn't want the child in Frida's womb is reduced to tears when he looks at the child he and Frida lost.
  • Lupe's (Diego's former wife) jealous outburst at the beginning. One can't help but feel sorry for her. And then it gets worse when she has a drunken breakdown at Diego's wedding to Frida. While her grabbing Frida is too far, literally no one feels bad for Lupe and instead, they all laugh at her misfortune. Luckily, Frida doesn't hold it against her for too long and the two have a decent relationship.
  • After the bus accident, Frida is visited by her boyfriend who sadly informs her that he will be heading out soon. Frida angrily orders him to leave and he does after he gives a farewell kiss. After he is gone, Frida bursts into tears.
  • Diego begging his now-estranged wife to come out of the house to talk to him after she catches him with her sister. It's the first time we see him truly upset about something.
  • Frida's sister reveals her husband beat her before he left. Frida feels immensely guilty for not stopping it, but her sister doesn't blame her.
  • When Frida's mother dies, Frida's father reveals that even though he regretted marrying her at times, he still loves her and mourns her death at the funeral.
  • Leon Trotsky reveals to Frida that all of his children were killed, mainly by Stalin's tyrannical regime. He feels guilt over condemning his family to death, and he thinks he stands alone against the world's most murderous dictator.
    • After Trotsky and Frida's affair is found out by Trotsky's wife, the Russian philosopher is seen arguing with her as Frida feels immensely guilty for disrupting their marriage.
