• When Billy attends the Blitz nightclub for the first time, Steve Strange performs "Fade to Grey." At one point the rest of the club attendees sing, "Don't you want me, Steve Strange?"
• The chorus of "Guttersnipe" is a reference to the Oscar Wilde quote, "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
• "Taboo" includes Leigh and the chorus voguing to "Vogue", as well as a reference to "Buffalo Girls" by Malcolm McLaren and the World's Famous Supreme Team.
