With the exception of truly abusing or neglecting their children, there is no one true right way of parenting. Some styles may work on their kids while other do not. And because of that, there are times when parents may try a new style when it seems the old one is not working. Though, sometimes the new style maybe just as bad or even worst then the old ones.
Often times the reason the new style fails is because the parents maybe taking it too far. They may learn that it can work if they eased up a bit.
If a work wants to keep the status quo, parents may go back to the old style. It may not be perfect, but it at least gets the job done.
Can be use for generation parenting. A parent may believe they are Breaking the Cycle of Bad Parenting by raising their kids in the opposite way they were raised. However, the work will show that their way of raising was just as bad.
