During a field trip to Domino city, Syrus and Hassleberry meet a couple of special duelists.
- Adaptational Dumbass: In the Japanese version, Grandpa Muto is the same as the original series. Here, he's gone a little senile.
- An Ice Person/Shock and Awe: True to their dub names, Frost and Thunder use ice and electric themed monsters.
- Foreshadowing: Bastion asks Aster if he knows anything about Sartorius' plan. Aster responds he doesn't and remarks someone of Bastion's caliber wouldn't understand. Bastion is understandably offended and says he's top caliber with Aster retorting why the Society of Light didn't come for him yet.
- Mythology Gag: Jaden, Syrus, and Hassleberry find the location where Yugi and a Marik possessed Joey dueled while shackled to an anchor. Later, Grandpa shows them the spots where Yami defeated the Exodia rare hunter and won Slifer the Sky Dragon from Marik and Strings. The episode's climax features Syrus and Hassleberry dueling against Thunder and Frost on the skyscraper where Yami and Kaiba dueled Lumis and Umbra.
