Recap / Yu Gi Oh Capsule Monsters E 8 Fruit Of Evolution

Go To

Yugi and his friends are in a huge forest full of tropical fruit, which Joey is quick to pig out on. The challenge this time is to locate the apple that gives you a raise, then offer it up in a maze to complete the task. Luckily, the forest is a lot smaller than they thought, surrounded by invisible barriers of nothingness at the edge of the map. Tristan suddenly finds what appears to be an enormous melon. Markering his face on it to show that it's his, he's shocked when the melon falls down a huge hole and disappears. Tristan and the group follow and find an underground passageway, which has three golden apples on top of huge pillars.

Tristan then sees that his melon isn't a melon at all—it's a Petit Moth! Angered at the bug, he calls out Thunder Kid, only for a huge maze to rise out of the ground, separating the group and blocking the passage to the apples. Yugi and Solomon decide to find their friends before working on solving the maze, while everyone else works to solve it on their own.

Tristan has about had it with the maze, and decides to draw his face on the wall to mark his spot. (Thunder Kid does too.) Unfortunately, after countless rounds, he still ends up at the same wall. Thunder Kid points to a capsule nearby, and Tristan activates it, hoping that whatever's inside is friendly. Tea is attacked by a Jirai Gumo, which steals her Dark Witch Capsule, but with the help of Happy Lover she's able to unlock Seiyaryu, which defeats it. Joey finds that the fruit in the forest, which he saved, boosts his stamina and intelligence, but before he can figure the maze out he's interrupted by a Battle Ox.

This problem is taken care of by Tristan's newest monster, Shovel Crusher, which cheerfully crashes through all of the maze walls. Tea, Joey, and Tristan are reunited with Yugi and Solomon, and they crash through the maze and find themselves back at the start—but this time there are only two apples. The Petit Moth ate the other one and evolved into a Great Moth! Yami attacks with his Dark Magician Duel Armor, while Joey and Tea attack with their monsters (Tristan and Solomon are still careening around on Shovel Crusher), but their attacks make it evolve even further into Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth!

Its power is too strong to handle, but Yugi takes a long shot and points out the missing apple, which gives Yami an idea. Avoiding the moth, he eats one of the apples, transforming the Dark Magician into the Magician of Black Chaos. Yami fuses with the Magician and takes down the moth by running it through with his staff, then finishes the job with Chaos Scepter Blast. Tristan and Solomon rejoin the group, as Shovel Crusher grew tired and fell asleep.

Yami explains that each of the three apples had its own purpose. One was consumed by the caterpillar, causing it to evolve into a Great Moth. If he took the second one, his strength would also grow, and that would leave a single apple left. Now all they had to do was offer up the remaining apple. Yugi places the apple on a golden altar, where the staircase to the final challenge appears. With renewed vigor, the group heads forward.
