Recap / Yu Gi Oh Capsule Monsters E 9 The Fiendish Five Part 1

Go To

Yugi's group lands in the same forest they first arrived in, and are greeted by the masked man who'd helped them through the trials. He identifies himself as Alexander the Great, attributing his historical conquests to a good luck charm he came upon during his conquest of Egypt. Unbeknownst to him, the artifact was the Millennium Ring, and while it brought him countless victories, it did so at a price. The Ring clouded his mind and made him power-mad, and much of Alexander's army deserted him. As he vowed to conquer the world himself if he had to, Shadi approached him with a test to see if he was worthy of the power he desired. Alexander went through the Capsule Monster trials, but apparently failed, losing his empire and everything else.

Alexander hopes that Yugi and his friends can complete the fifth trial, which will be the hardest one yet. Giving Solomon Muto a Curse of Dragon capsule, he leads them to the Village of the Divine Dragon, which worships the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. The villagers make annual sacrifices to the Blue-Eyes to protect their land from five vicious dragons, and this year's victim is a young girl who volunteered herself. Yugi and his friends are determined to protect her and vow to slay the dragons themselves, but the mayor warns them that it won't be easy—the dragons are said to be immortal. They're given til sunup to defeat them all, but should they fail, a sacrifice will be made. (Joey volunteers Tristan, but Yami Yugi is adamant that no soul will need to be sacrificed.)

Before they start out, the girl tells the group of another legend. The dragons can only be defeated with the Sword of Divinity, which can only be wielded by the chosen one when a great power descends on the village. Yugi, Joey, and Tristan all pull on the sword, to no avail, so it's a riddle they'll have to solve later. Yugi and his friends split up to the dragons' lairs and do battle with their own dragons, except Yami Yugi, who obtains Black Luster Soldier for the fight.

At first the enemy dragons are easily beaten, but they quickly revive and turn the tables, forcing the heroes to flee. Yami Yugi realizes that the Sword of Divinity can only be wielded if the dragons are led back to the village, which would increase every dragon's power. The group retreats to the village, and as Yami Yugi merges with Black Luster Soldier, he's able to pull out the sword and defeat the five dragons... Until they resurrect and merge into the nearly unstoppable Five-Headed Dragon!
