• Achievements in Ignorance: Serenity's amateur method of picking cards and a Deck Master gave her the means to win the duel in the end, particularly with Goddess of the Third Eye's Deckmaster ability (discard a magic card and Goddess can fuse monsters together without the need for Polymerization or similar cards).
• The Bad Guy Wins: Nezbitt lost the duel but mentions that since he defeated Tristan, he'll be taking his body.
• Chekhov's Gun: The face-down card Tristan left on the field before he was defeated allows Duke to give Serenity's St Joan a power boost.
• Death by Irony: Nezbitt is finished by Serenity's monster, St. Joan, and she was the opponent whose body he wanted.
• Hand Seals: Duke's Strike Ninja makes a series of these when using his Deckmaster ability.
• Took a Level in Badass: Serenity finally steps up and defeats Nezbitt.
