FBI agent Franklin, formerly of the white collar division, is on the run and Peter has been brought in by the marshals to track him down. The team figures out that Franklin was still working his last case from white collar (before being demoted to banking). Turns out the marshal in charge of the manhunt, Deckard, has been selling witness information to a shady lawyer named Volker, who has them intimidated or killed, and Deckard framed Franklin. Peter ends up on the run with Franklin and the team has to help him get a confession out of either Volker or Deckard before Franklin ends up dead.
Tropes:
- Dirty Cop: Deckard has been selling witness information to an Amoral Attorney for the purpose of eliminating the witnesses.
- Properly Paranoid: Peter sends Mozzie to spend time with Elizabeth (they were supposed to have a date night, interrupted by the manhunt) and tells him to say "azaleas" so she knows he's fine. However, given Mozzie responds that his safe-word is "breakfast cereal", this may instead be a case of Good People Have Good Sex.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Bancroft gives Peter and his team all the backup they need to prove that Franklin is innocent and Deckard is the actual leak. He also winds up chaperoning Neal to the art exhibit he's been wanting to see.
