    Day 1
The group meets in the town square, including Peter, Jack, Wanda, Donna, Cameron, Rachel, Percy, and Ari. They learn of a job posted by an archaeologist, Professor Diggs, to explore some ruins in a forest near town. They visit the professor, who informs them that he's interested in the ruins because of the unusually high concentration of monsters there. Before leaving for the ruins, the group has a brief meeting in a nearby park, where they introduce themselves to each other. They are visited here by Jack's adoptive father, Anton Goldheart, and Wisk, a lizard merchant.

The group travels to the ruins with the professor, where they defeat their first monster, a giant beetle. Krista joins them right after this. They then solve a puzzle that requires them to place colored orbs in the correct slots on the floor, opening the path to the innermost chamber. In there, they find a large crystal which the professor intends to take back to town for research. The group is then surprised by the arrival of Gregory, a former student of Diggs', who tries to steal the crystal from them. They knock Gregory unconscious and take the crystal back to town.

After taking the crystal back to town and saying goodbye to the professor, the group receives a telegram from Donna, inviting them to her younger sister Christine's birthday party. Peter, Jack, Wanda, Krista and possibly others then attend the party and say goodbye to each other afterwards. Krista spends the night at Wanda's house.

    Day 2
The group reunites in the town square. They learn from some of the people there that monsters have just invaded the university where Professor Diggs works, and they quickly go to the campus to check on it. Once there, they first defeat a robotic monster in the lobby, then they head to the lab upstairs, where they find Professor Diggs trapped by another monster. They defeat it as well, but the crystal from the ruins is damaged during the fight.

Professor Diggs says that the monster seemed to be after the crystal. He analyzes the crystal using a machine in the lab and says he detected a faint electromagnetic signal coming from it, but he can't tell what it means yet.

Suspecting that Gregory has something to do with the incident, the group heads to the inn where he had formerly been living and finds a newspaper in his room. Gregory seemed to have highlighted an article in it which mentions increased monster activity in two places: the forest the group went to yesterday, and a place called Crystal Shores. The paper also contains a job request from a journalist who wants to investigate this same Crystal Shores place, so they decide to take the request and see the place for themselves.

The group heads to the news station to look for Rena Porter, the reporter who posted the job request. Once there, they agree to a brief interview about the university incident. After the interview, the meet up with Rena, who tells them she's looking for the crystal robin, a rare bird that has been recently sighted on Crystal Shores. The group rents a boat from Gunther and travels to the island, where they meet a mysterious rhino and weasel duo. After saving the crystal robin from the duo, they return to the mainland and spend the night at an inn near town.

    Day 3
After returning to town, the group says goodbye to Rena and meets up with Professor Diggs again. They tell him about the rhino and weasel they met on the island, and he tells them he has analyzed the signal from the crystal and found out that it has a pattern resembling language. He then gives them devices that will allow to group to communicate with him and each other remotely.
