Recap / Tracker S1E13 "The Miracle"

Go To

Cole hears of a teenage girl named Jamie Swinson, who saved a guy from electrocution with a touch. He looks her up and learns that Jamie previously had cancer but was diagnosed as in full remission right after the arrival of the alien fugitives. He and Mel go to her home and see a crowd of reporters, who see her as some kind of miracle worker. Jamie, her mother, and Father Creighton, a family friend, leave the house. Someone falls off a news van. Cole and Jamie both enter hyperspeed and save him. Cole realizes that the girl is a Cirronian scientist named Lontoria, arrested for treason after selling her groundbreaking discovery to the Vardians when the Cirronian scientific community snubbed her. He also admits to Mel that he and Lontoria got close on SAR TOP. Jamie's mother takes her to a producer seeking to make a documentary about "extraordinary people", but it turns out to be Zin, who threatens Jamie's mother if Lontoria refuses to cooperate. Fearing for her life Father Creighton takes "Jamieā€ to an abandoned church, believing that God sent her to restore his faith. He unwittingly reveals to Zin their location. Cole finds them and talks to Lontoria, with her pleading to allow her to stay, if only to keep Jamie's mother believing that her daughter is still alive. Cole is about to take her life force, when Zin and the sheriff, who is also an alien, arrive to the church, armed with weapons developed using Lontoria's research. Cole fights Zin and the sheriff. He manages to use the sheriff as a shield, with Zin's shot killing the sheriff. Zin the hits Cole and seems to kill him. Lontoria threatens Zin with the sheriff's weapon, forcing him to leave. Then she uses her powers to revive Cole, draining herself to the point where she's basically human. Lontoria tells Cole that when he finally comes for her, she will go willingly. Cole implies he may be willing to let her stay.

  • Brought Down to Normal: Reviving Cole drained Lontoria to the point where she's more human than Cirronian. It will take her years to recharge to when she can use her powers again.
  • Crisis of Faith: Father Creighton's experiences have resulted in him losing his faith. He hopes that Jaime has been sent by God to restore it. Even after realizing that she is not an angel, he claims that his faith has been renewed.
  • Crossdresser: The episode starts with Nestov coming into the bar, dresses in drag. Apparently, he was investigating a dating service, but got no results. Cole point out he never told Nestov to dress as a woman. Nestov tells Mel he understands women better after enduring hours of unwanted male attention.
  • Dating Catwoman: Downplayed. Cole and Lontoria were more friends than lovers, and Lontoria's crime was political in nature.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: Technically, Jamie Swinson died the moment Lontoria took her body, just like everyone on the train. Unlike most others, Lontoria continued living as Jamie, and her mother is none the wiser. After losing her powers, Cole tells her that she's more Jamie than Lontoria now.
  • Energy Weapon: Zin wields a prototype energy pistol, developed using Lontoria's technology, that can kill any life force from the Migar System but doesn't seem to harm anything else. The weapon breaks just as he's about to finish off Cole, so he tosses it aside, apparently not caring about humans potentially discovering alien technology.
  • Healing Hands: Lontoria uses her powers to revive Cole's life force, draining herself in the process.
  • Just a Flesh Wound: Zin is shot in the shoulder but doesn't seem to care in the least.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Apparently, Cole and Zin used to be friends before Zin's betrayed him. Zin claims he genuinely regrets losing their friendship.
