    Time Crisis
After freeing Sercia from a century-old authoritarian regime, the VSSE establishes William McPhearson as the country's first elected president. Sherudo Garo, the last blood relative of the royal family, retaliates by kidnapping McPhearson's daughter Rachel, demanding military secrets in exchange for Rachel's life. The VSSE sends in the One-Man Army, Richard Miller, to infiltrate Sherudo's castle and rescue Rachel. As Richard begins his assault on the castle, Wild Dog, Sherudo's right-hand man, sends out all of his men to kill Richard. Along the way, Richard defeats Moz, and learns Rachel is being held hostage in the clock tower. At the clock tower, Richard defeats Sherudo in a duel, but Rachel is again kidnapped by Wild Dog. Richard chases Wild Dog to the heliport and Wild Dog is defeated when the detonator is blasted out of his hands and is accidentally set off, seemingly killing him in an explosion. Richard and Rachel then escape the crumbling castle on a helicopter.

    Time Crisis - Special Mode
Richard is told that there is an arms factory posing as a hotel which is run by Kantaris. Kantaris sells arms to Wild Dog, and Richard's mission is to infiltrate the hotel and eliminate Kantaris there. Upon clearing the lobby, there are three paths Richard can take. In the first path, Richard fights his way through the ballroom and casino, and defeats Kantaris's assassin Spider. Richard then chases Kantaris to the rooftop and shoots down Kantaris's helicopter before she can escape. In the second path, Richard goes through a shopping mall and a garbage disposal then soon finds himself in the arms factory. Richard then confronts Kantaris in her office, and she sends out a robot to deal with him. Richard defeats the robot and it malfunctions, crashing into Kantaris and sending her falling out a window to her death. In the third path, Richard fights through the parking lot then destroys a spider tank. He then shoots at Kantaris's car several times and she crashes into a pole. In any of the three paths, if Richard fails to defeat Kantaris within the time limit, she'll escape, but not before taunting him. Canonically, the spinoff Project Titan tool place after Miller destroyed the hotel and arms factory operation, but failed to kill Kantaris herself.

    Time Crisis II
Ernesto Diaz, the leader of NeoDyne Industries, announces plans to launch "StarLine Network", consisting of 64 satellites to unify the world's communications. However, it was soon discovered that the real plan is to launch a nuclear satellite into space. As Christy Ryan attempts to tell VSSE about the true plan, she is captured and VSSE agents Keith Martin and Robert Baxter are sent to stop NeoDyne. Keith and Robert fight their way through the NeoDyne mercenaries and kill Jakov Kinisky in a boat chase, then recover the intel and discover the satellite being moved by train. As they board the train, they are confronted by Buff Bryant but manage to shoot him down in his helicopter. They then hijack another NeoDyne helicopter and fly to the spaceport, where they are confronted by Wild Dog and Diaz. Wild Dog detonates himself upon defeat, then the agents save Christy. The agents then face off against Diaz, who is using a prototype satellite to kill the two, but Keith and Robert destroy the prototype, sending Diaz falling to his death and destroying the satellite. Keith, Robert, and Christy are then extracted by the VSSE.

    Time Crisis 3
Astigos, the largest island in the nation of Lukano, is invaded by military forces from the Zagorias Federation, led by Giorgio Zott. Within a matter of weeks, 80% of the island is soon occupied by the Zagorians, and the Lukano Liberation Army, led by Daniel Winston and Jake Hernandez, are captured while trying to infiltrate the Zagorians' hideout. Alicia, Daniel's sister, finds out that the Zagorians have smuggled tactical missiles onto the island and leaks the information to the VSSE. The VSSE sends in Alan Dunaway and Wesley Lambert to destroy the missiles. Posing as fishermen, Alan and Wesley launch an attack at Marano Beach until the two are trapped in a shipwreck. They are soon rescued by Alicia, and they manage to shoot down Victor Zahn and his gunship in the ensuing chase. They later split up in a town, where Alicia learns of Jake's betrayal. Then they arrive at a train which is soon sabotaged by Randy Garrett, forcing them to travel to the base on foot. At the Zagorians' base, Alan and Wesley face off against Wild Dog and his younger partner Wild Fang and defeat them, the former detonating himself upon defeat. The agents then rescue Daniel with Alicia's help, and go after Zott. They confront Zott in the main dome and gun him down, then shoot down the tactical missiles using Zott's rocket launchers. Alicia goes after Jake and manages to kill him after disabling his gunship. With the mission a success, Alan and Wesley return home while the Lukano Liberation Army defeats the remaining Zagorians and frees Astigos from their control.

    Time Crisis 4
Officials from both the U.S. Army and the VSSE learn about a top secret weapon codenamed "Terror Bite" has been targeted for terrorists' smuggling. As the VSSE sends in Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard to investigate, Captain William Rush is dispatched to infiltrate a pier occupied by the terrorists, but finds that the enemy has already gotten their hands on a few samples. Elizabeth Conway then tells Rush that the VSSE's involvement has been leaked, and that the terrorists are planning an ambush on the agents. Giorgio and Evan are then rescued by Rush, and the men fight their way out of the airport. In a helicopter, they chase down an arms dealer named Marcus Black and shoot out his trucks tires, then kill him in a gunfight. They find out that the terrorists are actually former soldiers for the U.S. Army, and are later revealed to be part of the Bio-Weapons Special Ops Unit, also known as the Hamlin Battalion. Following this, Rush attempts to stop the Battalion from destroying a dam, but fails, then later meets up with Giorgio and Evan to stop the Battalion from stealing more Terror Bites at a weapons facility. The helicopter the men are flying in is shot down by surface-to-air missiles, forcing them to travel to the facility on foot. Once at the facility, Rush confronts and defeats Jack Mathers, but finds the facility is already empty. The Hamlin Battalion then uses the Terror Bites to hijack an Air Force base in Colorado, and as the men arrive at the base, they find UCAVs are already taking off from the base. Giorgio and Evan confront Wild Dog in the depths of the base and defeat him, and Wild Dog detonates himself once again. Elsewhere, Rush faces off against Wild Fang and defeats him by kicking him into the path of a UCAV. The men then face off against Gregory Barrows, who had ordered the UCAVs to launch and destroy the United States. Giorgio and Evan kill Barrows in a gunfight on the destroyed stairs then presses a big red button to cause the missiles from the UCAVs to self-destruct harmlessly before reaching their targets.

    Time Crisis 5
While investigating a possible traitor within the VSSE, an auditor has been murdered and a briefcase containing vital information about the traitor has been stolen. Luke O'Neil and Marc Godart are sent in to retrieve the briefcase along with Robert Baxter, the commanding officer for the mission, and Catherine Ricci, the agents' air support. Wild Dog, an old enemy of the VSSE, is suspected of having stolen the briefcase hours after the auditor's murder, and it's been rumored that the traitor has been selling out the agents' intel to terrorist organizations around the world. Robert notes that Keith Martin is the suspected traitor. Luke and Marc track Wild Dog to a fortress posing as a luxury hotel, and give chase until Wild Dog pilots a robot to attack the agents. Wild Dog escapes after the robot's destruction, and Luke and Marc chase after him in Catherine's helicopter until they have him cornered on the rooftop of a building, where Wild Dog takes control of a missile carrier to shoot down the helicopter. Luke and Marc destroy the carrier and level the building, but the helicopter is damaged when Wild Dog fires a rocket and Wild Dog escapes on a heavily-armored vehicle. The agents then pursue Wild Dog on motorcycles and destroy his truck, but Wild Dog sends the briefcase flying, though not before Robert shoots at it. Wild Dog detonates himself a fifth time, and the briefcase is later discovered by a recovery team, which is wiped out by a man wielding a katana. The original version ends the first half of the game on a cliffhanger, which is followed by an announcement that the story will continue in the True Mastermind Edition.

Time Crisis 5 - True Mastermind Edition
Luke, Marc, and Robert continue their mission to locate the briefcase using a tracking device that was shot at the briefcase earlier. The agents then arrive at a factory, where they are confronted by Keith Martin. While fending off the agents' attacks, Keith reveals that the auditor was Christy, who had fallen in love with Keith sometime after the second game. Eventually, Keith is subdued, and Keith opens up the briefcase to finally expose the traitor. To their shock, Luke and Marc realize that Robert was the real traitor, and that he had framed Keith as the traitor as well as Christy's murderer. Using a flashbang, Robert makes his escape, and Keith joins Luke and Marc to track down Robert. While fighting their way through a cave, they come across zombie-like enemies that have been infected with a drug used to negate pain and fear. The men locate Robert, but Robert flees once again and sends out Wild Fang to kill them. Luke and Marc defeat Wild Fang and his energy generator overloads, finally killing him, and the agents catch up to Robert, who pilots a giant robot to attack the agents. The men then face off against Robert in a tough battle in which Robert reveals that he sent Keith on a botched mission to protect the drug used on the enemies, but he had stolen it, since the VSSE found out about its side effects and wanted it destroyed. With the drug infused on a missile, Robert's first target was New York. Luke and Marc eventually destroy Robert's robot, and Catherine apparently sacrifices herself by ramming her helicopter into the drug-infused missile. Luke and Marc then finish off Robert, shooting him several times and causing him to fall to his death, but Robert fires off a few bullets and ends up destroying his plane. The agents escape the plane, and find that Catherine survived the crash. Luke discovers a nearby island, and the group safely swims to shore.
