The group draws cards labeled Artifact, Innocent, Marionette, Ghost, and Beast, which all hint at what their futures hold. They are then beset by wild wolves, and after Grymharl is excessively brutal in executing them, Wihakayda reaches a breaking point...

- Cliffhanger: The final scene of the episode is, immediately after dealing with rough encounters, the party is approached by a man appearing to be Strahd himself.
- Foreshadowing: All five of the cards are directly connected to important plot events in future episodes. Marionette refers to the manipulative Zaro, Ghost to the Pumpkin King's town, Beast to the Werewolf Alpha, Artifact to a chest of True Resurrection spell components, and Innocent to Sumer.
- Rage Breaking Point: Wihakayda hits hers when Grymharl brutalizes the feral denizens of the forest and justifies it as doing what needs to be done to get home and protect it, when the forest is Wihakayda's home.
