Classmates Kwok and Penny are chosen to be the titular Romeo & Juliet respectively in the school play and Penny develops a crush on Kwok.
Tropes:
- Arranged Marriage: Kwok is in one with a girl named Annlee, and their families arranged it before either of them were even born. It’s called off by the end, though, due to them not being able to stand one another.
- School Play: Romeo and Juliet.
- So Much for Stealth: Penny and Dijonay sneak to Kwok’s house to see what Annlee looks like, and they remain unnoticed. Unfortunately Penny accidentally screams and falls off the ledge, getting Kwok’s attention.
- Tears of Joy: Penny cries those when Aunt Diana presented her a beautiful dress for the play.
- Wham Line: When Kwok’s parents say that he and Penny are forbidden from seeing each other socially after the play is over, Oscar and Trudy demand to know why. That’s when Kwok drops the bombshell that kickstarts the episode’s conflict.Kwok: I’m engaged to be married.
