Season 1, Episode 4:
Undertaking
Amalia True: "All time does is run out. I was left here, completely alone, with nothing but a mission I was never actually given - no orders, no objectives, they left me here and they fucked right off. Maybe they died? Who cares, I'm here - where a woman can be killed just for having a voice, which will be the world's fucking epitaph if I can't do something other than make it worse."
While Mundi seeks justice, Amalia and her most trusted advisors make a list of potential enemies. Harriet, Primrose, and the other Orphans attempt to decipher a message. Later, Amalia exposes an unexpected threat.
Tropes in this episode:
- Barrier Warrior: Nimble has the ability to create temporary circular barriers, strong enough to block Annie's flame blasts and allow him to walk between them in mid-air.
- Hypocritical Humor: Immediately after Penance cautions against a violent response to Mary's death:Horatio: All right. Augustus Bidlow?Penance: Yeah, we should murder him.
- Not So Stoic: Hearing the translation of Mary's song causes the normally completely composed Amalia to break into tears.
- Trouble Entendre: Amalia's conversation with Massen, in which her exercise in hypotheticals allows him to essentially explain why he had Mary killed, and as Horatio puts it, 'confess without confessing'.
