A powerful dust storm called the harmattan traps the Guard, Makucha, Fahari and Jiona; Ono uses his knowledge of the harmattan to send Makucha and his cronies into a whirlwind.
This episode provides example of:
- Eat the Camera: Makucha pounces at the screen with his mouth wide open at the end of his Villain Song.
- Faux Affably Evil: Makucha and his leap pretend to be nice to the heroes, but it's soon revealed that they're only helping them for their own gain and they quickly turns on them when they overhear them talking about the Tree of Life.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: If Makini didn't talk about the Tree of Life within earshot of Makucha, then Makucha likely wouldn't have known about it, meaning he probably wouldn't have gone to try and attack it later on in the season.
- Villain Song: "The Tree of Life"
- Villainous Rescue: Makucha saves Kion from being crushed by following rocks (although the former denies he did it and claims that Kion was simply getting in the way of his own escape attempt)
