A Plot: As the Sadie Hawkins dance approaches, Erica asks Beverly to help her find Barry a date to keep him away from Lainey. Beverly locates a girl named Evelyn (played by Allie Grant) who shocks everyone because she reminds them of someone they know – Bev!
B Plot: Adam is traumatized by the death of Optimus Prime in The Transformers: The Movie, and gets into a fight with Pops while trying to shoot his own version of the film where Optimus (played by Pops) lives.
- Fix Fic: In-Universe, Adam tries to shoot his own version of the Transformers movie in which Optimus Prime lives.
- Generation Xerox: A not-actually-related variation; when Barry and Lainey end up ditching their dates to dance with each other, Erica is able to set up Evelyn up with someone else...who acts exactly like Murray.
- It Makes Sense in Context: Adam gets worried about Pops dying and changes his script so that Optimus Prime (whom Pops is playing) doesn't get hit with a car. Pops gets insulted by this change and demands that he change it back. This leads to jokes about an old man angry at his grandson for not hitting him with a car.
- Stunned Silence: Adam goes into this when watching The Transformers: The Movie as many of his childhood icons die.
