Air date: December 10, 2014
Games inspired by: Doubting Yutnori — Yutnori + Ciao, Ciao...

Doubting Yutnori is played with guests who are this season's eliminated players: Hweejong, Ahyoung, Kyunghoon and Yuhyun.

Guests are playing game of yutnori among themselves. To move their pieces they use a special dice with 10 sides. 8 sides of the dice denote number of spaces guest's piece can advance to and 2 sides have "Bust!" which means that a piece must be removed. Only guests themselves see their rolls. They announce their roll and if noone doubts it, guests then move their pieces according to what they said whether it's true or not.

Guests' win condition is to get 2 of their pieces to the end of yutnori board.

Genius players participate by doubting and betting. After guest announces their roll, player can doubt it. If guest was telling the truth — player leaves his garnet on a table, and if they caught a lie — guest's piece is removed and player takes a garnet from the table (provided there are any). Winner of yutnori race takes remaining garnets on the table up to 10 garnets (surplus goes to the finale prize pool).

Players can also bet: on the order of finishes and on the overall yutnori win. At first players bet on first finishing piece and each time a piece finishes there is a new bet for next piece. This bet has double rewards if player guesses right. Overall win bet nets triple rewards but player can't choose guest themselves — it's a random pick before yutnori game starts. If player doesn't have faith in randomly chosen guest's ability to complete the race they can bet minimum 1 garnet or put in maximum 10 garnets if they think otherwise.

Player who has the most garnets by the end of yutnori game wins the game and the other two go to Deathmatch.

Players' bets are secret and it's in players' interest to keep them secret because that way they can collude with several guests at once telling them that they've picked them and then partner up and help their guest partners by doubting their competitors.

Hyunmin picked Kyunhoon and their strategy is simply for Kyunghoon to finish first while Hynmin doubts other guests.

Dongmin tries to work with Hweejong and his strategy is not to rely on bets but instead gain garnets by doubting. If Hweejong rolls "Bust!" he will bluff and give signal to Dongmin. If Dongmin sees anyone trying to doubt it, he will try to doubt first to gain sure 1 garnet. In any other case doubts against Hweejong will fail because he will be playing truthfully otherwise. That should fill up the table with garnets from players and Hweejong will be able to pick them up if he wins the game.

Hweejong suspects he has no partner and because he is a free agent he presents this strategy to all 3 players: he asks all of them to bet minimum 1 garnet on their actual partners and bet on him for 2nd and 3rd. Because he has agreement with all players he is sure that's gonna win him an overall victory.

Ahyoung gets her first piece to the finish first. No one bet on her, so everyone loses but Yeonseung bet just 3 garnets so he loses less than Hyunmin and Dongmin. Next to finish is Yuhyun. Dongmin and Yeonseung win 10 garnets each.

At this moment Hweejong sees there are just 4 garnets on the dealer's table. He tells other guests to stop colluding with Genius players because they need to increase guests' prize pool hoping players will doubt wrong and add garnets to the pool.

Yeonseung then suggests that all 3 players knowingly doubt wrong to give up 6 garnets and break guests' strike. Dongmin is up for it, but Hyunmin who has lost garnets on his bets and is behind doesn't want to give his 2 garnets. Hyunmin doesn't want cooperate and guests strike can't work unless all Genius players agree, so it falls through.

It's Yuhyun's turn and he keeps getting insanely good rolls which allow him to overtake all other guests and get extra turns. Hyunmin keeps doubting him and loses every time because he's telling the truth. After getting to move for six consecutive turns he finishes his second piece and wins overall yutnori game. He gets $ 9,000 guests' prize.

Yuhyun was Dongmin's secret partner but Dongmin only bet 1 garnet on him so he only gets 3 in return. However that's enough for him to be #1 among Genius players so he wins Main Match sending Yeonseung and Hyunmin to the Deathmatch.

Deathmatch game is Betting Black and White. It's a variant of Black and White from previous season (played in Layoff and Elevator Game). Players now are given 30 chips which they can bet on result of each of the 10 rounds of the game and the player with the most chips at the end wins. Players must bet at least one chip on each of the 10 rounds and they must use all of them. Bets and order of the tiles is predetermined by players before Deathmatch game starts.

When comparing each of the 10 tiles players' bets must be met. Player with lower bet has a choice. If they call they have to put enough additional chips from other bets or from chip winnings. If player wins the round — he takes both bets. Or player can fold, then he loses his bet and tiles are not revealed. If bets are already matched then tiles are revealed and compared right away.

Hyunmin stacks all tiles with higher numbers at the start and bets high on them while betting just 1 chip on numbers lower than 5 down the line. This guarantees that if he wins first 4 rounds he can just fold on all the rest and win. Yeonseung was beat with this superior strategy and was eliminated.

Tropes:

  • Brandishment Bluff: guests can lie that they get all the highest rolls and it will pass as long nobody doubts them.
  • I Always Wanted to Say That: Yuhyun gladly repeats Hweejong's famous "you will have to get on my good side" from Food Chain.
  • Million to One Chance: Yuhyun's insane streak of rolls which allowed him to go for 6 consecutive turns (!) and push his second piece from start all the way to the finsh. The chance of that streak is 7812.5 to 1.
