Both segments are Halloween themed. The first episode has Yzma planning to stop Kuzcoween from happening. The second has Kuzco and Kronk trying to find out who Malina's secret crush is.
This episode contains examples of:
- The Grinch: Yzma hates Kuzcoween so much that she ends up doing everything the Trope Namer did to stop it from happening. Instead, her actions cause people (including Kuzco) to love the holiday even more as they feel she added a fresh coat of paint to the holiday.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Following Yzma's plan failing, Kronk dresses up as her for Kuzcoween.
- You Mean "Xmas": Instead of Halloween, people celebrate Kuzcoween which has the same mechanics. When explaining her complex plan to stop it, Yzma says she'll dress up as a bearded fat man and deliver presents to everybody once every year, which she calls Yzmas.
