When Hope crosses a line to try and "civilize" Sandy, Ugga issues her a challenge: civilize Thunk.

- Awesome, but Impractical: Phil's many inventions to fix the "reaching across the table" problem are neat, but wildly impractical, including a giant rock (as a preventive measure), a miniature ballista and a line of ants.
- Control Freak: Hope is in this mode full-swing this episode. She yells at Phil for reaching for food at the breakfast table, undermines Ugga's parenting by "civilizing" Sandy and very intrusively instructs Dawn how to "properly" eat a banana.Hope: Dawn, you'll get a peel cut.
Dawn: Seriously, Mom?
Hope: You know the banana rules.
Dawn: [Sighs deeply] You're right. My banana bad. [Takes a bite]
Hope: Smaller bites. And chew and chew and chew and swallow.
Dawn: Mom!
Hope: Dawn, there's banana in your mouth. Banana bad. Now go take a post-banana shower and put on a clean robe. - Glad I Thought of It: After an entire day of failed inventions for the dinner table, Guy presents a Boring, but Practical spinning table-top. Phil is very quick to take credit for it.
- Insufferable Imbecile: Ugga manages to put Hope in her place by challenging her to domesticate Thunk like she tried to do with Sandy. Unfortunately for Hope, Thunk has no manners, no sense of personal property and attention span of a goldfish with its brain missing. By the end of the day, Hope outright attacks him out of frustration.
- Made of Iron: Dawn's "Progress Pod" is so durable that both she and Eep can fall off a cliff while inside it and get out of it relatively unscathed.
