Pentecost and the others watch footage of the victory against the Kamacuras nest and are pleased with the results. Due to their injuries/damage, Gabara, Gorosaurus, and Cherno Alpha will be out of commission for a few days. Penetcost suggests they concentrate on killing the Kaiju who joined the Mutants due to genuine evil and possibly try to convince the ones who joined for protection to defect to their side. General Douglas Gordon suggests today they focus on eliminating one Kaiju whom diplomacy will not work on, Megaguirus.

The others protest. That giant dragonfly queen is presently one of the most powerful Kaiju on Terra, and only Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan had been able to drive her off in the past. Gamera has never faced her and might be able to beat her, but they don't know for sure, and he's busy trying to negotiate with King Kong. Right now, her ego and territorial nature means she joined none of the factions and will attack any being who approaches her, making her a threat to all. Gordon presents a folder detailing his plan. Pentecost looks it over and gives his authorization.

In the South Pacific, "Operation Flyswatter" is about to begin. The 108th Global Defense Force Tactical Fighter Squadron has been equipped with F-22 Raptors, jets capable of flying at speeds exceeding Mach 2.8 and outmaneuvering alien fighters. Captain Brian Forrest, call-sign Pyre, leads his team. With him is his wingman Fringe, the heart of the team with her wishes for peace and willingness to fight for it, Harley Port, the practical joker of the team, and Grimm, the idealistic but skilled rookie. They hear that the Super X-3 aka the Hiei, will soon arrive to assist in the plan. They meet Mobius, a stern, taciturn professional, and his wingman and eternal rival, Demon, who constantly boasts about her piloting skills. The team starts joking that Mobius and Demon should just Get a Room! already, until Pyre tells them to shut up and focus on the mission.

Every once in a while, Megaguirus, daughter of the original Queen who was slain by Godzilla Junior, leads a swarm of her children to raid a city. While her children are weak enough to be felled by conventional weaponry, she is not. So far, attempts to flush her out of hiding turned fruitless, for she has the ability to detect radar and laser designators, allowing her to easily escape with her incredible speed before bombers can reach her. Her nests are always destroyed whenever they are found, but she can always create another one. However, Gordon's plan does not involve trying to chase her down. It involves getting her to move where they want her to be.

Mobius and Demon enter a canyon, using careful maneuvers to mask the sound of their jets, and find her asleep. They drop smart bombs that do minimal damage but wake her up in pain and rage. She fails to notice two of the projectiles are really tracking devices that attach to her back. The rest of the squad prepare for their part of the plan.

Megaguirus panics and tries to fly away, but now matter where she turns, she can feel a laser designator targeting her. She remembers another island with several caves and attempts to fly there, but when she feels yet more designators, she instead starts circling the island. The pilots get worried that she's not entering the trap, but are told to try to lure her south. She sees the exhaust from Pyre's jet and launches herself in his direction. They manage to distract her with several unmanned droid planes, and they note they must stall her until the Super X-3 arrives.

Eventually, the Super X-3 arrives and bombards Megaguirus with its freeze missiles. However, before they can finish her off, the enraged dragonfly queen taps into her hidden reserves of power, healing her wounds and generating a burning aura that melts the ice away. She rams the Super X-3 several times and deals heavy damage. Unable to hit her conventionally, they are forced to gamble by letting her ram them, then firing their freeze ray at point blank range. She takes massive damage as the heat shock cracks her wings and exoskeleton, but her forward momentum makes her plow right through the Super X-3. Unfortunately for her, this exposes the vehicle's nuclear reactor, which explodes in her face with the force of a small nuke.

Her burnt and broken body crashes to the ground. Barely able to move, she can't believe after surviving so long and having so many victories against both man and kaiju, she's about to die now. As she thinks of her one comfort safely hidden away, the battleship the Mjölnir shoots her with a railgun. The projectile reduces her body to Ludicrous Gibs.

The pilots stare in amazement that she's finally dead, then mourn the crew of the Super X-3. Fortunately, it turns out they were able to eject in time, and their escape pod is floating in the water.

Meanwhile, Taiyou accompanies Miki's team as they journey to Red Dawn's base. Miki points out she didn't have to come, as she's still recovering, but she says she has to do this. Red Dawn used her as a pawn ever since she was a child and they have to be stopped. They arrive, blast down the door with a rocket, and rush in.
