Recap / The Bridge: Humanity's Stand Ch 23 Will Decent Be Enough?

Go To

After Lauren wakes up, she is embarrassed that she actually fainted. After Azusa tells her tale of Equestria, Lauren along with everyone else struggles to process this. Azusa says Equestria is a nice place, but it has its own dangers and conflicts, so perhaps it is a good thing Godzilla and the others arrived there, as they can do some good. They ponder whether they can bring them back, but Serizawa says they'll have to wait until the war is over, as they don't have the time or resources to work on that now. Craig points out maybe some of the Kaiju don't want to come back. Ozaki points out maybe they can discuss that if they can somehow communicate with the Kaiju. Joanne excitedly points out their magic users, like Tori, could likely do that, and use the magic residue on Azusa to help pinpoint Equestria. They agree to work on that after finishing the tour. Azusa says she will catch up to them; she needs to talk to Stacker Pentecost alone.

After the others leave, Azusa asks Pentecost if he is all right. He's not; he loses his temper and punches a glass table several times until it breaks and his hand is bloody. With the revelation that Xenilla pretended to be a villain just to make Godzilla stronger, Pentecost believes that his life for the past several years has been a lie, and all the suffering and bloodshed they have gone through was all just part of Xenilla's plan. He can't stand the thought that they've all been nothing but pawns. Azusa had said Xenilla isn't actually evil, which makes it even worse because Xenilla only cared about his brother and didn't care about them at all, like they were bugs. Azusa points out it's no different from the many humans who don't care that some Kaiju are good and want all of them exterminated to protect humanity. Also, Xenilla didn't have a good impression of humanity, as he was attacked on sight as soon as he arrived and witnessed humanity persecuting both Senior and Junior. Pentecost reluctantly agrees to forgive Xenilla. They decide to keep Xenilla's true motives secret from the public, and if he and the others return, they will figure out what to do later. Azusa leads him to a medical station to tend to his hand. Scylla, who had been watching, calls in staff to repair the table, and saves a recording of Pentecost's tantrum.
