The school dance is on. A boy named Liam has been trying to ask out a girl he likes and consults with Otis. When Liam revelas that she already said no to him, Otis tells him he should give up.Ola has just enrolled at Mooredale and wants to go with Otis. Jackson convinces Maeve to come with him, but she has no money for a dress. Maeve's trouble-making brother steps up and romances a formalwear shop into giving Maeve an expensive dress free of charge. After meeting a confident camp man and getting some reaffirmation from his local parish, Eric reignites his flamboyance and goes to the school dance, gaining his father's respect in doing so.
At the dance, Ola figures out that Otis is attracted to Maeve. Feeling threatened, she snaps at Otis and leaves him. Jackson reveals to Maeve that the reason he's been able to get on her good side waas because Otis was telling him how to charm her. This ends up killing the relationship. Adam's relationship with his father hits fever pitch and he tries attacking him before finally saying "I hate you" and storming off.Eric and Otis patch up their friendship by having a dance. Maeve's brother sells some drugs to Liam, who gets on stage and declares his love, only to be rebuffed. He climbs onto a backdrop and tries to kil himself, but Otis talks him down by saying he'll find someone who loves him sooner or later. Unfortunately Liam slips and sprains his neck, but he survives.
