- Chekhovs Flare Gun: JD uses the flare gun he bought in a fit of masculine insecurity to give George a send-off from the roof of the hospital.
- Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: Denise headbutted her one night stand, leaving him with two black eyes. He shows up again the next night for another round. It's all played for comedies.
- Gaussian Girl: Again. Lampshaded by JD's narration when he sees the new administrative assistant, then parodied with an elderly patient.
- Manly Tears: George is upset about dying and breaks down in tears.
- Not Afraid to Die: Turk and JD initially tell George that they're not afraid to die because they deal with death on a daily basis. Eventually they come clean.
