A ghost trucker has been terrorizing the streets of Crystal Cove, and it's up to Mystery Incorporated to solve the case and reclaim the missing crystal doorknobs around town.
The episode provides examples of:
- Dumbass Has a Point: Shaggy objects to the idea of the ghost truck as a tourist attraction pointing that the driver tried to murder the main characters.
- The Faceless: The Ghost Trucker himself is never seen, and Rung doesn't even have a costume when he is revealed. Averted in the online game, where he is dressed more like a motorcyclist with a color/design scheme matching the truck.
- Foreshadowing: Rung Ladderton shows up late for his date with Daphne, right after The Gang is menaced by The Ghost Truck.
- Monster of the Week: The Ghost Trucker, haunting the clifftop highways outside Crystal Cove and running other drivers off the road.
- Mythology Gag: While in her bedroom knitting an ascot for Fred, Daphne hums the theme from The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
- Parents Suck at Matchmaking: Daphne's parents press her to "give a chance" to Rung Ladderton, who is apparently a rich heir. The guy comes late for their date, eats the salad Daphne ordered for herself then asks her to pay the bill because he forgot his wallet. It turns out he inherited a broken ladder company. He is the driver of the ghost truck as a façade to steal diamonds.
- Sdrawkcab Name: Besides Avocados, the other person who bought tires like the ones on the Ghost Truck was named G. Nurno Treddal - Rung Ladderton with his names backwards.
- Sharkpool: Fred uses one in his trap.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: In spite of being the owner of a ladder company, Rung Ladderton is basically broke, because as he points out, ladders are not meant to be anything like an annual replacement and are usually brought as a lifetime appliance.
Fred: Gee, dad. Does this mean you finally accept what I want to do with my life?
Mayor Jones: <laughs> Oh Fred, no.
