Recap / Regular Show S 06 E 23 Garage Door

Go To

After Pops crashes his car into the garage door, Mordecai and Rigby (along with Pops) are sent to a hardware superstore to find a replacement. Per usual for this show, it turns into a mythical medieval quest.

Examples

  • Chekhov's Gun: The jaws of life used to free Pops, which the fireman says came with the fire engine. When the garage door salesman gets trapped by one of his doors, there is fortunately a fire engine on sale nearby, complete with jaws of life.
  • Continuity Nod: The knight once again returns, employed at the mart since the game store that held the golden badges flew away in Gamers Never Say Die.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: A lot of the tasks to reach the garage door pretty much fall under this. You'll never see deadlier plunging after this.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: Lampshaded by Mordecai when they see the knight (the same one who protected the “I’m Eggscelent” trucker hats and the golden gamer badges) working at the mart.
  • Shout-Out: The last trial and the scene where the knight gets incinerated are taken directly from The Neverending Story (movie version only).
  • The Quest: Winds up turning into this as the mart the group go to is practically a sprawling labyrinth.
  • The Treachery of Images: Mordecai and Rigby painted the garage door so that it looks exactly like the interior of the garage. Pops was not aware of this and drove his car into the door, which sets off the plot.
