Annabelle is a girl with a terrible fear of water, and because of this she cannot come with her father on his fishing trip. She meets Kate and Magic at the beach and they briefly race Magic on the sand, until Annabelle gets frightened by stepping into the water by accident. She explains to Kate about her fear of water, which causes a Friendship Trail to appear and enter into Kate’s half of the Friendship Heart, indicating that she is the next child in need of a pet.
Kate and Magic travel to Pocketville and consult the Pocketpedia about Annabelle, but so far no information about her was enough to get the book to budge. That was until Kate gives out one important detail: she wished to spend more time with her father just like how she wanted to spend more time with her mother. The Pocketpedia tells Kate and her friends that a dolphin is the ideal pet for Annabelle.
Meanwhile, Eva and her lackeys, who had picked special seeds from the Ever Grey Swamp, had already arrived at Pocketville Bay in search of the dolphin. They go out into the sea on a motorboat to plant the seeds into the water as a trap for Kate and her friends, who eventually arrive there as well. The Royal Guards spot the dolphins way out into the water, but have to swim to them in order to get their attention. Kate, William, and Danny head out into the sea, while Balloon and Mela look for a Magic Drop on the beach. However, the trio, while being watched by Eva and her gang, end up getting caught by Eva’s trap, which had already grown into seaweed stalks that wrapped around their legs. Krakia flies over in attempt to grab Kate’s bracelet, but she is spat at by a group of dolphins who came to the aid of Kate and the dogs. Swimmy, with the help of a cast of crabs, frees them from the seaweed trap and helps them get to shore, where Kate asks if he is willing to help Annabelle get over her fear of water. As always, Swimmy accepts this proposal.
Swimmy is sent to Annabelle through the Friendship Ceremony. He appears in the waters of the Big City bay, encouraging Annabelle to meet him in the water, to which she does. Annabelle is immediately ecstatic about getting into the water without any fear, as well as befriending Swimmy, knowing that her father would be so proud of her.
Back in Pocketville, Kate and her friends see a new piece of the mosaic in the Magic Fountain, making the shape of Princess Ava’s ear. Kate and Magic return to the Big City, contemplating over Ava’s whereabouts. At the same time, Ava tries to find food but ends up confronting a pack of stray dogs who claim it all to themselves.
