- The Determinator: Golisopod becomes this once Torracat is taken out, refusing to back down against Pikachu and being knocked out after a collision of Iron Tail and Liquidation.
- Graceful Loser: Guzma takes his loss pretty well after realizing he was effectively being a Dirty Coward in all his previous battles.
- Mythology Gag: Just like in the games, when Guzma loses, he shouts out, "Guzma! What is wrong with you?" In the dub, this was changed to "What are you doing, Guzma?!"
