Finally arriving at Hoof Town, the group prepares for the first round of the Hoof Cup, even meeting a couple of familiar faces.
- The Bus Came Back: The rest of the Mane 6, Lightning Blitz, and Sunset Shimmer return in this chapter, either revealing their entry into the Hoof Cup as rivals or just stopping by to spectate. Nonetheless, they still remain on friendly terms with the rest of Flash's group.
- Friendly Rivalry: Unrusprisingly, Rainbow Dash and Applejack form a rivalry between each other in the upcoming Hoof Cup, but they remain amicable to each other nonetheless.
- Kiss Diss: Played for laughs between Flash and Sunset, when at the end of Sunset's call with everyone she wishes Flash good luck and blows him a kiss. Flash is shown to freak out at this action and moves his head back as if trying to avoid the kiss.
- Loyal Animal Companion: Fluttershy's Breezie encourages her to be more open and social instead of shying away from others.
- Meaningful Name: Flash's first opponent, Cold Forecast, is a stoic trainer who really only expresses emotion during the Pokémon battle.
- Projectile Kiss: Downplayed and played for laughs with Sunset. Before Sunset ends her call with the others, she wishes Flash good luck with his match and blows him a kiss. Nothing actually happens, but Flash still freaks out at this action and moves his head back as if trying to avoid the kiss.
- Replacement Goldfish: Subverted. Even though Sunset is working as Celestia's new assistant, they assure Twilight that she hasn't been replaced.
- Shout-Out: The announcer for the Hoof Cup is Present Mic and even shares his appearance.
