Recap / Our Cartoon President S1E14 "The Senior Vote"

Go To

The President's base are mostly made up of old people and they decide to lean into that. Meanwhile, Don Jr. learns how to be middle-aged.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bad Is Good and Good Is Bad: Mike Pence believe old people protecting society from positive progressive changes (integration of schools, bringing Vietnam soldiers home) as ideal.
  • Didn't Think This Through: After securing the elderly vote, they discover that it's not actually helping secure reelection because they are dying of old age faster than they can replenish.
  • Epic Fail: The second Rudy Giuliani starts talking in his interview with Anderson Cooper, he incriminates Trump at every turn.
  • Law of Disproportionate Response: A couple of times at rallies involving elderly people, a few of them suddenly fall down dead. Trump is merely mildly amused and the whole thing is treated as not that big a deal.
  • Lazy Bum: Being told to walk up stairs, even if they are only three of them, is enough for Trump not to do something. When he learns about stairlifts, he has one installed that allows him to move about all over the White House (and the front lawn) without ever getting out of his chair.
  • Scatting: Rudy Giuliani compares his method of speech to such.
