After the Christian folk band the Crucifolks breaks up, the third wheel of the band Mr. Armature comes to Orel's school to put on a musical, Crooning Jesus. Orel tries out for the role of Jesus, but is disappointed to find out that not only did it go to Junior Christein (who had singing lessons and a powerful uncle on Broadway), but that he would be playing Judas instead. Mr. Armature convinces him to stick it out by saying that Judas was really an unsung hero of Christianity because if it weren't for him, it wouldn't even exist. The night of the show, everyone is unimpressed with the musical, as they all expected Orel to be Jesus, and are bored. The only part anyone liked was Judas's Villain Song, "I Hate You Jesus", which catches on in the town. The episode ends with Orel realizing in horror just what they were singing.

- Innocuously Important Episode: If you really look at the events that happened in the darkness that was season 3, it all began to fall apart for Orel here; this is what led to the adults of Moralton refusing to give Orel advice when he needed it, which led to the mass bloodletting, which led to Orel getting grounded, which led to his psychosis and attempted suicide, which gave way to the hunting trip where Orel got shot.
- Shout-Out: Bernie Christein is a nod to famous producer and talent agent, Bernie Brillstein. Interestingly enough, he also produced Mr. Show, which series creator Dino Stamatopolous was previously a writer for.
