Recap / Mobile Suit Gundam 00 S 1 E 20 Blade Of Reformation

Go To

Saji thinks about what happened to Louise and starts to cry.

The leaders of the Union, AEU, and HRL announce that they are joining forces under the banner of the United Nations to destroy Celestial Being. Marina and Shirin speculate that Celestial Being intended to create peace by uniting the world in hatred of them. Ian and Lasse leave the Ptolemios to pick up the newly developed GN Arms vehicle.

Graham and Daryl meet with Billy, who tells them that the Union now has ten GN drives and the Over Flags will be chosen to use the new GN drive-equipped GN-X mobile suits. Graham refuses to use a GN-X, as he promised Howard that he would defeat the Gundams with a Flag. The HRL gives Sergei and Soma GN-X's as well. Kati reluctantly gives Patrick a GN-X.

Ali meets with Laguna and asks him for a GN-X, but Laguna tells him that this is impossible. Ali decides that he'll steal a Gundam instead. As Ali leaves Laguna's offices, Kinue asks to speak with him. Ali offers to give her a ride. Ai initially refuses to give her any information on Laguna, only to suddenly change his tune and reveal that Laguna provided the GN drives to the power blocs. Ali tells Kinue about his past as a terrorist and his corruption of Setsuna. He gleefully admits to being the worst kind of human being. That night, Kinue finds herself bleeding to death in an alleyway. Her last thoughts are of Saji and her late father.

Alejandro and Ribbons take a ship from a Union orbital station. Alejandro reveals that his family has been plotting to interfere with Aeolia's plans for generations, but Veda kept interfering. However, Ribbons has provided a solution to this obstacle. Wang meets with the Trinities and offers to assist them: she claims to only care about following Aeolia's ideals and isn't concerned with the Trinities' methods. Johann decides to consider her offer.

The Trinities attack an HRL base, only to be surprised to learn that the new GN-X units are as strong as they are. The outnumbered Trinities are forced to retreat. Soma notices that the soldiers at the base are cheering even though the Trinities managed to trash the place before their retreat. Sergei explains that the soldiers are happy because this is the first victory against the Gundams.

Alejandro and Ribbons arrive at their destination: Veda, the computer that is the heart of Celestial Being.

Tropes used in this episode:

  • Card-Carrying Villain: Ali gleefully admits to be being the worst kind of person.
  • He Knows Too Much: Invoked. Kinue doesn't actually know that much of importance, but Ali tells her everything he knows so he can have an excuse to kill her.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Before, the battles in the series were between nigh-unstoppable Gundams and ace pilots who had to use their skill and guile to stand a chance. The introduction of the GN-X's reverses this dynamic.
  • The Starscream: Alejandro and his family have been plotting against Aeolia for generations.
  • Wham Episode: Kinue dies, the power blocs finally obtain mobile suits that can defeat the Gundams, and Alejandro is revealed to be The Starscream.
