While Peter tries to perform damage control on his personal life, Spider-Man has to take down the slick new villain, Slyde, who is stealing various chemicals from around the city.
This episode contains examples of:
- Heel–Face Turn: Inspired by Uncle Ben in Peter's memories, Otto Octavius makes this official, once and for all. After receiving his help last episode, Peter hesitantly asks for his help once more despite the hell his life was put through.
- Rock Bottom: In a sense. As he summarizes near Uncle Ben's grave, Peter is unable to return to Horizon, his time in Midtown High isn't much better, and most of his closest friends are ignoring him or occupied elsewhere. All he can do now is move forward.
- Status Quo Is God: Peter wants to invoke this as best he can now that he has his body back. Among his list of goals to get his life back on track is to have Jameson at the Daily Bugle hate Spider-Man again. It doesn't take long when he notices Spidey's change in fighting tactics. Getting reinstated to Horizon High is a different and challenging, if not impossible, goal since Otto offended Max Modell and dropped out while in Peter's body.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
- What the Hell, Hero?: Max tears into Peter over his behavior in the previous episodes. Though this is subverted as Octavius was the one in Peter's body at the time, and Max didn't know nor gives Peter a chance to explain.
