After leaving Neverland, Terra suddenly feels a bright light calling to him. He follows it and finds himself on Destiny Islands. He finds a paopu fruit and recalls Aqua telling him about it before. While exploring the island, Terra meets two young boys named Sora and Riku. Riku, who has never seen Terra before, puts two and two together and realizes that he must be from another world. He tells Terra that there was once a boy from the island who managed to leave and find other worlds. Terra suddenly has a vision and sees a silver-haired youth staring out into the sea in Riku's place. As the boy turns around, Terra sees another vision, as he turns into a teenage version of Riku.
After the vision ends, Riku tells Terra that he wants to become strong like the boy who left the island, and to do that, he has to find other worlds. When Riku tells Terra that he wants strength to protect his friends, Terra decides to trust him. He summons his Keyblade and performs the bequeathing ritual, which will allow Riku to wield a Keyblade himself one day when he is older. Terra tells him to keep the ritual a secret, which Riku agrees to do. Sora tries to ask him what happened, but Riku refuses to answer. Terra realizes that he has to protect his friends just like Riku, so he leaves the island, trusting that Riku will grow up to be a fine Keyblade wielder one day...
