The first episode of the TOKUJO mini-series.

It all began with a single question: "How were the members of Special Crime Unit recruited?"

Gou's query about SCU's origins makes Mr. Belt challenge him, Kiriko and Shinnosuke into solving the murder of Professor Odagiri. He was Belt's colleague who died in mysterious circumstances a year ago, days before the Global Freeze. He states that once they solve it, they will uncover the truth behind the founding of the SCU.

• Asshole Victim: Professor Odagiri was accused of plagiarizing his students work's and publish them as his own.
• How We Got Here: The episode, and the mini-series in general, starts with Drive locked in a fight against Brain. Shinnosuke then starts to retell on how did this come to pass.
• "Not So Different" Remark: Nishihori found Odagiri a kindred spirit, since the professor was apparently using his students works as his own, and he was a Jack the Ripoff. The professor was not amused at this notion.
