Story by John Semper Jr. and Ernie Altbacker

Song: "You Are Unique"

Snuffy and Jay Jay lose a game of hide and seek because Snuffy's skywriting leads Tracy and Herky to their hiding place. But after visiting Brenda Blue, Jay Jay learns how to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. In the next game, Snuffy flies all over the sky before finding a hiding place — leaving smoke lines here, there and everywhere! Tracy and Herky exhaust themselves trying to follow the trail, and Snuffy and Jay Jay win the game!

"Hide and Seek" provides examples of:

  • An Aesop: Your talent makes you special; it's best to make use of it.
  • Bookends: The episode starts and ends with Snuffy skywriting.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Jay Jay has one upon noticing the many lines in Brenda's maze, which gives him a solution to winning Hide and Seek.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Snuffy repeatedly, as his skywriting gives away the hiding places. He also bails on Jay Jay upon remembering that good flyers play Hide and Seek, and he isn't a good flyer.
  • One, Two, Skip a Few:
    Snuffy: 1...2...uh, 4...
    Jay Jay: You skipped 3.
  • Pep-Talk Song: Big Jake shows Snuffy his skywriting talent is what makes him special and shouldn’t be upset about it, with the song "You Are Unique".
  • Triumphant Reprise: Snuffy reprises "You Are Unique" in the final scene as he is happy to be a skywriter and that he can use it for an advantage.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Basically Big Jake's idea to Snuffy:
Big Jake: You can fly around forever,
    And never have a clue.
Or you can climb to great heights,
Write your name up in lights,
Cause no one does that better than you!
