Summary

Having been forced to take on a partner, Kyoko reluctantly asks Makoto to assist her in this case, believing his deductive skills will be an asset. Will the Ultimate Lucky Student agree after being repeatedly rebuffed by Kyoko?

Tropes

• Dramatic Irony: While Makoto and Kyoko head off to the crime scene, an unknown person is seen calling their associate of their arrival.
• Metaphorically True: When Kyoko tells Makoto to tell his mom that he's hosting another video game tournament instead of investigating a prison break, Makoto says that he can't lie to her due to him being a Bad Liar. Kyoko then tells him to tell her that he's just helping a classmate with something private, since that's technically what he's doing.
• The Only One I Trust: Heavily downplayed, as it's more "The Only One I Know". One of the reasons that Kyoko chose Makoto as her partner is because he's the only one she knows well enough due to his constant attempts to befriend her.
• Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: When Makoto brings a magnifying glass with him for the investigation, Kyoko points out that actual detectives don't often use those for day-to-day work and tells him to take detective fiction with a grain of salt.
