Thinking that I would stargaze with them again once I got better helped me bear the really unpleasant medical exams. But sometimes this anxiety would suddenly overwhelm me. It was a fear of...running out of time.
After forming a band with her childhood friends, Saki's days were full of happiness. One day, she found a poster for an event at the observatory and made a plan to go together with them...
In hospital, Saki wakes up to rainy weather outside her window. She looks out the window, hoping that the weather will clear by nighttime, so she can see the stars. The stars remind her of her friends back home, and she wonders if they are having fun at school, admitting that she misses them a lot. Saki wakes up again, but this time in her bedroom. She was just dreaming about a past experience in the hospital, and she reminds herself she isn’t sick anymore and she doesn’t have to be alone. Tsukasa knocks on her door and tells her that if she spends too much longer getting ready, she’ll be late to school, causing her to realise that she overslept, so she rushes to school. At school, Ichika asks why she overslept, so Saki tells her she was just caught up in her dream. Ichika then asks what she was dreaming about, but Saki doesn’t tell her it was about the hospital so Ichika doesn’t feel guilty about not being able to visit often. After school, the Leo/need members head to practice in the School SEKAI, where they are greeted by Miku and Luka. Miku comments on how peppy Saki is, and Ichika mentions that she was almost late to school that morning. Shiho is concerned, but Saki tells her that she just fell asleep again after waking up. While they practice, Saki reminds herself again that she isn’t alone anymore, and that she needs to live her life to the fullest.

On the way home from work one day, Saki sees an advert for a nearby observatory and decides to arrange a trip there with the other Leo/need members, since she wants to spend more time with them. After checking its location, she decides to add several detours to the outing as well, as an attempt to make the most of her youth. When Saki brings the idea up at the band’s next practice session, Shiho says he thinks that time would be better spent on band practice, but she changes her mind after Miku and Luka tell her that spending time together outside of band activities will help them work better as a team. However, she asks that Saki doesn’t slack off at practice because of the trip, or she won’t go. Saki promises to practice every day, but Honami points out that Saki already has a job and school clubs, and Ichika reminds her of what happened the last time she overworked herself. Regardless, Saki insists she’ll be fine, and tells her friends that nothing will stop her from enjoying her youth. Luka is also worried about Saki, commenting on her strained voice, which reminds Shiho of when Saki was ill before. Shiho promises to look out for Saki, and reminds her not to push herself to hard.

Later that week, Saki comes down with a fever. She originally plans to go home and go to bed early, but she ends up taking an extra shift at work after school. After a busy shift, Saki’s fever has worsened and she considers skipping band practice the next day, but she remembers what Shiho said about slacking off and decides to still go. At band practice the next day, Honami asks if Saki is feeling any better, since she was there when Saki first started feeling under the weather. Shiho, unaware of the fact that Saki has a fever, immediately becomes concerned and asks Saki why she didn’t stay at home. Saki insists that she’s feeling better now and becomes annoyed that everyone is worrying about her. After practicing for a bit, Honami notices that Saki looks rather ill and checks her temperature, finding that Saki was lying about feeling better and still has a fever. Shiho shouts at Saki out of worry, asking her why she was so irresponsible and let herself become ill again. Saki tells her it’s because she wanted to go to the observatory with them, and that they couldn’t just go any other time because she feels she missed out on so much of her life while in the hospital. After this, Saki begins to feel faint, so the others take her home. Back at the Tenma house, Saki apologises to Shiho for causing her trouble again. Shiho is upset that Saki feels the need to apologise to her, and leaves afetr saying they'll talk once Saki feels better.

On the day the girls were meant to visit the observatory, Saki genuinely feels better. However, it’s raining, so there’s no point in going to the observatory anyway. Saki feels like she has inconvenienced everyone around her, and tells herself she should be happy because everyone is there for her. Despite this, she’s still disappointed that she didn’t get to see the stars with her friends like she has wanted to for so long. Suddenly, her phone flashes, and she’s reminded that she can see the stars over in the School SEKAI. In the SEKAI, Saki can’t find anyone around and starts crying when she realises that she’s all alone again, but in the same moment, Luka appears on the rooftop. She asks Saki why she’s alone, commenting that her usual energy was gone before. She can see that Saki is upset, and gets Saki to open up about what happened. Luka asks the same question as Shiho, wondering why Saki couldn’t reschedule the observatory trip, and Saki tells her that she’s wanted to spend time with her friends for a very long time.

Back in the real world, Ichika, Honami and Shiho go to visit Saki. Ichika tells them about a time she visited Saki in the hospital, where she wrote letters to Honami and Shiho. Saki enjoyed writing the letters, but her mood became somewhat melancholic when she realised that Ichika would get to see the others when delivering the letters, while she would still be lonely in hospital. Ichika’s story makes the girls realise that Saki was much lonelier than they were aware of. When they go up to Saki’s room, she isn’t there, and they work out that she must have gone to the SEKAI.

Meanwhile, Saki is recounting her time spent in hospital to Luka. She tells Luka about how she would look at the stars when she was lonely because it reminded her of her friends; the thought that she would be able to stargaze with them again when she had recovered helped her through unpleasant medical examinations that she had to have. However, there was always a looming fear that she was running out of time, time that should have been spent with her friends. This feeling of lost time is what motivated her to live every moment to the fullest, forgetting to take care of her wellbeing in the process. Saki starts crying again, upset at how she acted, but Luka reassures her that her anxiety is perfectly justified, and that it’s okay to take things slow sometimes.

It’s revealed that Ichika, Honami and Shiho had overheard this whole conversation, and Saki apologises for not resting in bed. Shiho apologises as well for how harsh she was to Saki, and takes responsibility for Saki’s fever since she pushed her too far despite Luka’s warning. She goes on to say that she’s angry at herself for not being a good friend and failing to notice that Saki was ill. Saki takes the blame back from Shiho, only for Honami to chime in and say that she blames herself for not realising what was going on with Saki. Ichika echoes Luka’s advice, informing Saki that the group is going to spend lots of time together, and that they will always be friends. Saki is brought to tears by her friends’ words, and thanks them all.

While the observatory won’t be open again for a while, Honami thinks of an alternative. A few days later, the girls go the the School SEKAI's rooftop again to stargaze together. Honami acts as the MC, talking about her knowledge of astronomy while the others act as the audience. After a while, Saki begins to get tired, so they decide to perform some songs together to keep her awake. Before they do, Saki comments on how happy the time they spent together that day has made her, and how she hopes they can make many great memories together.

This event contains the following tropes:

  • Anger Born of Worry: Shiho shouts at Saki for being irresponsible and overworking herself, but it's out of genuine concern for Saki's wellbeing.
  • The Confidant: Luka acts as one for Saki in Chapter 6.
  • Dropping the Bombshell: When Saki suddenly exclaims why she's been pushing herself so much in chapter 5.
Saki: No, we can't! We can't go whenever! I've missed out on so much of my life already!
  • Sick Episode: For Saki. The story revolves around her getting a fever and having to cancel an outing with her friends.
  • Stepford Smiler: Saki keeps her smile up and keeps brushing off her friends' concerns about her health despite the fact that she's actally sick. The reason she does this is because she's aware of how long she has spent in hospital and she feels like she's running out of time to spend with her friends, and admitting that she's sick would mean more time lost.
