  • Chekhov's Gag: Potamus's Running Gag — "did you get that thing I sent yah?" — becomes a plot point when it's revealed that Potamus sent Shado a request for discovery two weeks in advance and he didn't respond to it in time, getting the trial thrown out.
  • Karma Houdini: As Potamus points out, all of the people who are filing the lawsuit against Birdman only got injured in the first place when they were performing acts of supervillainy (making their claims of self-defense rather shaky) and it doesn't seem to factor in to the case itself. The only reason why Harvey even wins is by getting Off on a Technicality, something that was only accomplished because Mentok had personal beef against Shado.
  • Off on a Technicality: Harvey manages to win the case against him on the basis of a mistrial because Shado the Brain Thief failed to respond to a request for discovery Potamus sent him before the case.
Harvey Birdman: So I didn't hurt this guy or that guy or this gal—
Mentok the Mind-Taker: Oh, no. No, you hurt them, Birdie. You hurt them real bad. But you won, and that's all that matters!
  • Retired Monster: We see that most of the villains signing into the case against Birdman have since moved on to more typical jobs.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: The villain that started the class-action lawsuit against Birdman — Murro the Marauder — did so because his defeat led to him sustaining crippling and permanent injuries that he had to go into physical therapy for.
  • Telepathy: While Shado the Brain Thief can speak normally, he prefers to speak using his mind. It doesn't seem to discriminate, many people at once hearing him, and he tends to think his words very loudly.
