A Dish Best Served Cold
Harry tells Ron and Ginny about the need to learn Occlumency, and Ginny starts to join in exercising. Mrs Weasley then takes him to Diagon Alley, where he meets with Goldfarb, arranging for revenge on the Dursleys. He also informs the goblins of Voldemort's Only Mostly Dead status, and arranges for substantially improved magical defences to be installed around The Burrow.
Harry and Ginny go shopping on Diagon Alley while waiting for Mrs Weasley, obtaining some new robes for him and a new wand for her (although she is worried about her parents' reaction to her accepting such a valuable gift). Percy and Mr Weasley express concern about them going off on their own, however, and Harry recognises that he didn't properly think about how Ginny's parents would feel about their excursion.
- Best Served Cold: The chapter title references this trope. Harry visits his banker and makes arrangements to inflict a fully legal and airtight Humiliation Conga on the Dursleys.
- Humiliation Conga: Having purchased a significant number of shares in Grunnings (Vernon's employer), Harry arranges with the goblins to have Vernon investigated for accounting discrepancies, fired, his fate published to the local newspaper, the Dursleys' mortgage bought out and foreclosed due to their lack of income, and the Dean of Smeltings notified in order to call Dudley's enrollment into question. Goldfarb, having seen the documentation of Harry's injuries, is a little surprised that he doesn't want to just hire a "discreet removal specialist", but Harry tells him that would be too quick.
- Thanks for the Mammary: Harry half-lands on Ginny as he stumbles out of the Floo, and is glad that Mrs Weasley didn't see where his hand landed. Ginny isn't bothered.
