Created by the Stars, Loved by the Skies

Without any warning, Zooey shows up declaring the Captain as the enemy of the world and impales them, despite the crew's best efforts at defense. Waking up alongside with Lyria, the two find themselves in a completely closed world with nothing except for another girl. The girl, Yuni, is willing to guide the two back to the living, under the condition that they have to watch the events of the War.

At the late stages of the War, a new Primal Beast by the name of Baldr is created to assist the Astrals. After taking heavy damage during battle, he finds himself treated by his supposed enemies, eventually stirring up memories and emotions that he was not supposed to be given.

Tropes

  • Become a Real Boy: Due to Zooey and Geo having their own hearts that are unrelated to Cosmos, those two are the only surrogates that did not disappear with her, effectively making them independent Primal Beasts.
  • Godzilla Threshold: With little allies left at hand, the Astrals deployed Azi Dahaka as their last ditch effort to win the War. Smart thinking from the defected Primal Beasts put down Azi Dahaka, marking the end of the War.
  • Hero of Another Story: Baldr serves as the focal character that represents the typical Primal Beast during and after the War, with his story ending with him going dormant.
  • Humanity Is Infectious: Cosmos originally cared about maintaining world balance. Her actions on getting a few Primal Beasts to work with the skydwellers made Lucifer realize how much the latter has grown on her.
  • Mook Depletion: A big reason why the skydwellers won the War is due to the amount of Primal Beasts that defected outnumbering the amount that stayed with the Astrals.
  • No Place for Me There: After the war, many Primal Beasts like Baldr decide to lie dormant in their core forms out of concern of the Fantastic Racism they have to face.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Zooey notes that she's unable to go against Cosmos's orders, yet being able to explain the truth to the crew is enough for her to know that Cosmos's link is weakening and that there's a way to revive the Captain. Geo heavily opposing the revival supports the idea as well.
  • Violence is the Only Option: Subverted. Satyr suggests beating both Zooey and the other surrogate to get her to talk. Zooey finds out that there's nothing preventing her from telling the truth and immediately do so once given the chance.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After Baldr protects Madl, his supposed enemy, the Astrals writes him off as a lost cause and orders Freyr to kill him. This isn't the only time the Astrals have done this, as they later find out the amount they had done contributed to their own Mook Depletion.
