Go To

Glynda sits in a staff lounge, sipping coffee and reading her scroll. A man with long blue hair in a ponytail wearing a Hawaiian shirt walks in. She introduces herself, and he remembers being told that she would become a teacher here for the summer. She is surprised to learn he is a teacher, as he is rather young. He introduces himself as Cu Chulainn. She reveals she was reading a report written by Chaldea Academy's headmaster on the origin of the Grimm and asks where she can meet him. He tells her he is waiting at the southern entrance for a friend to come back. His name is Zhuge Liang, but his closest friend calls him by his original name, Waver Velvet.

Cu Chulainn says he and his colleague will be teaching a class with some of the Beacon students soon. He's read up on them, and is worried about Ruby Rose because she is so young. She says not to underestimate them, and to train them well.

Jaune, Pyrrha, Jeanne, and Mash go to a training arena, while the rest of their group went to other classes. Jeanne says they don't have class for a while, so they might as well do a little sparring. Jaune asks Mash what type of fighter is she, and she answers she is a Shielder, and she is the only one in the school. They arrive at the arena to see Gilgamesh, now in golden armor with a red cape, gloating over a defeated Mercury, his legs destroyed again.

Horrified and angered, Pyrrha says he went too far. Slightly scared, Jeanne tries to defuse the situation, calling Gilgamesh a king. Mash explains to Jaune that Gilgamesh earned the title the King of Heroes for his many accomplishments. Emerald says Mercury totally deserved what he got before carrying him to the infirmary. Pyrrha cannot stand Gil's smug attitude and challenges him to a fight. Jeanne tries to say that's not a good idea, but Jaune tells her to have a little faith.

Pyrrha steps into the ring and draws her spear and shield, Miló and Akoúo̱. Jaune asks Mash what Gil's weapon and Semblance are, but she says it is hard to explain, so just watch. Pyrrha charges, but Gil says "Gate of Babylon" and several portals appear in the air. She is forced to dodge a barrage of launched weapons. Jaune is utterly shocked, as Jeanne explains that in Apocrypha, they call their weapons and Semblances Noble Phantasms. Gilgamesh's main Noble Phantasm, Gate of Babylon, allows him instant access to all his other weapons. And he is so rich that he owns a seemingly endless arsenal. Jaune says he believes in Pyrrha.

Pyrrha continues to dodge the weapons, then uses her Semblance, Polarity, which is control over magnetism, to make the weapons turn away from her. Gil is impressed, but says that ability is not enough. He fires more weapons, and she is shocked to find she cannot control them, forcing her to dodge. Jaune asks what is going on, so Mash explains these new weapons are golden, and gold is not magnetic. Pyrrha turns her spear into a rifle and tries to shoot him, but he summons a shield to block it. Then he hurls a war hammer that nails her in the gut and knocks her into the wall. Her Aura is instantly depleted and she coughs up blood.

She grits her teeth and admits defeat. Gil says that was fun and leaves, saying she is welcome to challenge him to a rematch whenever she likes. Jeanne and Mash are amazed, because it takes a lot to get Gilgamesh to respect someone. Pyrrha and Jaune complain that Gil is allowed to bully people just because he is strong, but the other two say Gil is not a bully, because he only attacks people who provoke him. The four of them decide to go somewhere else.
