Go To

Glynda is happy as she walks through town with another teacher, Medea. She has light blue hair, pointed ears, and wears an indigo cutoff jacket, black shirt, tan skirt, and brown boots. Glynda thanks her for showing her around town. Medea says as Head of Recourses and Academy Magic Bylaws, she is usually busy and she jumped at the chance to take a break. She then says she usually works with her husband, but her son in law convinced him to go to another kingdom as a substitute teacher for the summer. She asks Glynda if she is married, and she answers that she is too dedicated to her role of a teacher and Huntress to think about romance, but she is content.

They come to a large temple and Glynda is confused because it has a different aesthetic from the rest of the town. She guesses it is a leftover landmark from a time the town was remodeled. Medea confirms this, and adds her family lives there. As they pass through the gate, Glynda notices a man with a long purple ponytail in samurai garb and carrying an extremely long sword, which impresses him as he was concealing his presence. Medea introduces him as Sasaki Kojiro, the temple's guard. He attempts to flirt with Glynda by saying from the gate, he can see many beautiful things while looking directly at her, but she doesn't react and walks into the temple. Medea teases him and follows Glynda. He warns her that peaceful days are hard to come by, so they should treasure them while they last.

Weiss, Marie, and Nero are in a class. Marie tries to cheer up Nero, who is still depressed over Ruby's Rank EX Rose Petal skill. Suddenly, Nero gets excited and declares she will challenge Ruby to a special kind of duel, and when she wins, she will prove she is truly the Empress of Roses. The teacher, Semiramis, who wears a revealing black dress and has incredibly long hair and pointed ears, tells them to sit down and be quiet as she turns around and starts drawing odd symbols on the chalkboard. Marie whispers to Weiss, explaining that Semiramis teaches non Casters how to use magic, which she has firsthand experience in since Semiramis learned magic despite being an Assassin. While her specialty is poisons, she knows spells like elemental spells and summoning spells. Weiss becomes excited and yells. She apologizes and asks if she can see Semiramis after class for a private lesson. She allows it, saying she likes students who go the extra mile. Weiss explains to Marie and Nero that although the Schnee family's hereditary Semblance includes summoning, she had never been able to do it before. Marie wishes her luck.

Kiritsugu and Kirei walk near the forest. Kirei says it is sad that they lost one of their finest warriors, but Kiritsugu says he's not dead until they see a body. Kirei says them working together again reminds him of when they were teammates as students, but Kiritsugu tells him to shut up. They meet Kairi Sisigou, who closed off the road from the public and scanned the area, but could find no traces. Kairi explains that when Siegfried left on his mission, a woman asked to meet him to ask a favor, but when she saw the site, she ran and called the school. He leads them to a huge pool of blood on the trail. Bits of Siegfried's armor and clothing are in the pool. Several trees have been damaged and there is blood on a nearby boulder. Kairi says he couldn't find Siegfried's body, but judging by the size of the pool, he is probably dead.

Sherlock Holmes walks up and reminds them that Siegfried had taken severe injuries before and survived every time. He goes to the boulder and finds it is cracked and some of Siegfried's hair is on it. He deduces that Siegfried's attacker rammed his head against the boulder four times judging by the cracks. He examines the trees and finds that they had been damaged by a large, two handed sword like Siegfried's sword Balmung, and there is blood in the cuts. However, the slash marks look like they were done by an amateur throwing a tantrum, plus Siegfried is a veteran who knows that a sword like his is unsuited to cut down trees as the blade would likely get stuck and damaged. He examines the pool and points out that amount of blood can only come from an attack that would nearly cut someone in half, or an attack on something vital like the wrists or the neck. Since there is no viscera in the pool and the armor fragments look like part of Siegfried's wrist guards, he's leaning towards the latter option.

With all this evidence, Holmes paints the plausible scenario. When Siegfried was on his way to meet the woman, he ran into someone he trusted, likely a student or someone pretending to be a student. This person asked to hold Balmung, and Siegfried allowed them, since he is incredibly nice. Then the person attacked him, and Siegfried barely defended himself with his wrists. Siegfried moved next to the trees to catch the blade, but then the attacker caught him and bashed his head against the boulder. What they don't know is who that attacker was, as every student, including the exchange students, were accounted for in the few hours since Siegfried left on his mission. Since there are no signs of his body being eaten by a Grimm, they can only conclude his attacker or a third party took it. Kiritsugu says he will ask Gawain and Lancelot to take their students to defend the town Siegfried was called for. Kirei promises the Church will keep this matter quiet to prevent a panic. Meanwhile, Kairi and Holmes will continue to investigate.

Inside a cave, a barely conscious and bleeding Siegfried tries to get up, but a large symbol on the ground electrocutes him when he tries to move. His attacker grabs his hair and orders him to look at him when he's talking. The attacker resembles Jaune Arc, but his armor is black, his eyes are yellow, and his skin and hair are pale. He had fooled Siegfried by wearing his hoodie up. The man says he is nothing like that wimpy idiot Jaune Arc, but he is his Alter. Siegfried asks what that means, but is electrocuted again. Jaune Alter tells him to give in and let the magic change him to a new form. As Siegfried screams in agony, he laughs and walks away, picking up Balmung. He says he's taken a liking to the weapon and will keep it.
