- Papa Wolf: Victim Kid Hogan was beating up his fiancée, who was also the daughter of his ringside doctor. That proves to have been a fatal error.
- Shout-Out: the episode title is possibly a reference to the 1942 movie Sunday Punch, about a group of boxers and their manager. The characters of a show set in 1947 would have seen it. However, it could also simply be a reference to a boxing term that refers to a boxer's signature KO technique or pattern.
- Who Murdered the Asshole: Kid Hogan doesn't seem that bad when he dies, but revelations afterwards bring him well into this trope.
