Calvin wants to watch television, but his parents want him to finish eating dinner with them, and then go play outside afterwards.

- Blatant Lies: After being forced to go play outside after dinner instead of watching television, Calvin ends up having a blast playing assorted games with Hobbes. He stops in the middle of it, however, to go tell his dad that's he's not having fun.
- Hypocritical Humor: Calvin's parents are insisting that they eat together as a family for dinner even though Calvin has a television show he wants to watch. Immediately after that, the phone starts ringing and Calvin's mom gets up to answer it, saying she's expecting a call.
