Bob gets a new pair of work boots, but they squeak because they need wearing in. The squeaking of the boots attracts the attention of three mice, and they follow Bob around without him knowing it much to the dismay of Lofty, who flees to the yard. Meanwhile, after arguing with Travis about the quickest way to Bob's yard, Spud races Bird all the way to Bob's yard as the crow flies (the quickest way to go anywhere is in a straight line).
