Recap / Big Finish Doctor Who NEDAS 2 E 7 Sisters Of The Flame

Go To

The TARDIS unexpectedly parks itself on a space ship. Lucie and the Eighth Doctor are amused until the Doctor quite suddenly gets abducted by giant centipedes. Lucie's life very quickly turns into a horror story — she manages to hide in a sewer pipe and avoid detection, but is subsequently arrested for being a stowaway without identification.

Two days later, Reasonable Authority Figure detective Rosto (also a giant centipede) takes her statement and promises her that he'll sort out her case. He's surprised to hear that people of his race attacked Lucie and the Doctor, since they're usually peaceful. Things make a bit more sense when Lucie's confused statement indicates that her attackers were bionically enhanced and led by a humanoid woman. Lucie's extremely scared of Rosto and copes with a lot of racial slurs in his general direction. Rosto tries to calm her down, but she asks for a humanoid detective instead.

Some time later, a humanoid detective woman arrives to come take Lucie to the nearest Earth embassy. However, it's actually the woman from the attack — a so-called Sister Of The Flame — and Rosto has to swoop in and save her. Lucie apologises for having been a complete racist twat to Rosto.

Meanwhile, a mob boss named Zarodnix is buying planets, murdering races and generally being evil. Also meanwhile, Straxus of the Gallifreyan CIA was ordered by the Time Lords to go scoop up the Doctor using a time scoop and a time ring.

It turns out that Zarodnix is a raging fanboy of Morbius, and plans to revive what's left of Morbius' brain. He plans to use the Doctor's body as a DNA source, "Jurassic Park style".

Tropes:

  • Insectoid Alien: The Trell, including Rosto, look like ten-foot centipedes.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Marshal Rosto. He first proves troublesome, arresting Lucie, but once he gets proof of Lucie's story he becomes a useful ally.
